Will my health insurance cover the cost of counseling sessions?
Behavioral Health Counseling is covered by most insurance plans, both in and out of network. Ezer Counseling is an in-network provider for Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Behavioral Health, and Optum. Additionally, you may be able to receive free Employee Assistance Program (EAP) sessions through your employer. Ezer Counseling is a provider for ComPsych, Espyr, Morneau Sheppell, and United Behavioral Health EAP. We also offer affordable self-pay rates.
What is counseling like?
During your first counseling session I will need a summary of the problems or questions that have brought you to counseling. I will ask you questions about your history, including: family history and dynamics, significant relationships, work, substance use, cultural background, major losses, traumas, medical issues and any other information that may be helpful.   This information will help me to work with you to establish personal goals and come up with an appropriate treatment plan that we will use as a guide for the rest of your sessions.
Do you prescribe medications?
No. In Georgia Licensed Professional Counselors are not allowed to prescribe medications. If you already have a relationship with a primary care doctor or psychiatrist, I will be happy to consult with them. If not, you can contact your insurance company for referral to a physician in your area.
Is what I say in counseling confidential?
Ezer Counseling assures confidentiality at all times, as required by both federal and state laws.  As a client, you are guaranteed the protection of confidentiality within the boundaries of the client/counselor relationship. Ezer Counseling will not disclose any of your protected health information without your written consent. The only limitations to confidentiality are if you are determined to be either a threat to yourself or someone else, or when legal requirements demand that confidential information be shared. Ezer Counseling is a mandated reporter; this means that if I have reasonable cause to believe that suspected child, elder, or disabled adult abuse has occurred, I an required by law to report such abuse. Please feel free to ask us about our privacy/confidentiality policy if you have more questions.
